Prismm customers are being forced to rethink how they sell event space. Cvent acquired Prismm, formerly Allseated, in April 2025.
The standalone platform is scheduled to shut down on December 31, 2026. New event creation is ending account by account between July 8 and September 30, 2026. On October 1, Prismm becomes view-and-export-only. (Source)
The migration carries real consequences. Events dated before January 1, 2022 will no longer be accessible after the transition. Templates, favorites and object groups will not migrate to Cvent Event Diagramming, formerly Social Tables. According to reporting from Floors and Seated With Love, there is no automated path for rebuilding those assets.
For hotel events teams, that means years of operational knowledge may need to be recreated by hand.
A replacement decision with wider consequences
It would be easy to treat this as an administrative migration. Export the files, choose another diagramming platform and rebuild the templates.
The market has already moved beyond that framing.
On Hyatt's July 30 earnings call, CEO Mark Hoplamazian said the company's proprietary artificial intelligence tools are being used to value every piece of group business. Hyatt also reported a 20% productivity increase for group sales teams using AI and a 7% increase in Group Revenue per Available Room.
Two days later, IHG announced conversational AI search across its website and mobile app. The company is also building what it calls an "AI-optimized hotel content platform." Franchisees are being asked to provide floor plans, structured amenity data and updated imagery. IHG said more than 90% of hotels are invisible to AI search because their data is not machine-readable.
Skift reported another warning signal in 2026: 82% of AI hotel recommendations come from online travel agencies and editorial media, while only 6% of hotels appear in AI results.
These developments connect the event diagramming decision to a larger distribution problem. Floor plans and room configurations are part of the data AI systems need to understand, compare and recommend event spaces.
The vendor question has changed
A diagramming system still needs to help a salesperson create layouts quickly and show a planner how an event will work. That is the baseline.
The next question is whether the system produces structured spatial data alongside the visual experience. Can AI booking channels index the venue? Can another system understand room dimensions, capacities, configurations and relationships between spaces? Can that information move across distribution environments without another manual rebuild?
A PDF can help a human planner while remaining unreadable to an AI search system. The same problem applies to static images and isolated floor plan files.
At Visiting Media, we build 3D event diagramming around both sides of that requirement: a clear selling experience for people and structured event space information that can support emerging AI distribution channels.
The Prismm shutdown forces a vendor decision. The lasting question is whether that decision recreates yesterday's workflow or prepares event space data for where group demand is going next.
