Tell us about yourself.

I live in Midlothian (pronounced “middle-of-nuthin”) Texas with my wife, two dogs and a cat. My kids are all gone now and have no interest in living in Midlothian, Texas. Now that the kids are gone I can restart my travel photography career.

What got you working in 3d/360° photography?

I got into 360s before digital cameras were available. I would photograph a scene, develop and scan the film then stitch it with the apple program “authoring studio”. The first panorama I had published was a life size scene of the last supper done by a local sculpture/model maker in Malta.  I also experimented with putting the same person in each frame of the pano and doing panos with long lenses.

What is a hobby or interest of yours that people might not expect?

I do not really have time for a hobby. I guess I am lucky that my job is my hobby and I work on my hobby for long hours. My personal interest is abstract photography.I do it for fun ,not money. My goal is to create a 2d image that reflects time, space and motion.

I have added a couple of images to this site called Youpic. Check it out. I recently added an image of what I thought was a mutated covid virus.

What on-site tip do you have to make sure shoots go smoothly?

Here is a simple trick to get good, ironed sheets.

If you have an issue with a wrinkled sheets on a bed do this:

Tell your contact that your camera is programed from corporate office to detect if the bed is wrinkle free or not. Proceed to do a color balance holding the camera over the bed. Put your exposure compensation on +2 then do the color balance. Show the contact the camera screen that is flashing “No Good”…… Let the know the sheets did not pass the test from corporate office. Try NOT to smile. Go grab a coffee. And come back the this room when the sheets are ironed.

What is your favorite shoot you have done with us?

The Virgin Hotel Matterport of Richard’s Flat was pretty cool and challenging. That’s what I like about shooting for Visiting Media is you just never know what you’re going to shoot.

What is your go-to productivity trick?

I try to get the client to stay with one type of photography at a time so that no time is wasted switching cameras throughout the day.

What is your favorite book?

Reader’s digest. I used to use them for shin pads when I was a child playing soccer. Then one day I opened one up and the rest is history. I have had one sitting on the tank of my toilet ever since. They are great for a good short read.

What is your go-to karaoke song?

The last time I did karaoke was in Tunisian bar drinking warm beer singing John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads”.

But I go back even further than Karaoke. Before there was Karaoke there were “lip sync” contests.I once won $100 doing lip sync to The Rolling Stones song “Miss You”.

What is a trip that changed your life and why?

On a trip to Malta I married my wife Vivienne, who is from the island of Gozo.I lived there for over 10 years and had my own lab and studio.

Any other fun stories?

This happened over 20 years ago. While photographing tourists for a “Xlendi Pleasure Cruise” boat trip, I photographed a German couple with their young son. I introduced myself and took a picture of them with the harbor in the background. The child got wide eyed and kept staring at me while tugging on his father’s shirt rambling in German. While waiting for the next mini van to appear with more passengers I began some small talk with the family. The Man told me that his son thinks I am really Todd the photographer. I stated that I was and the boy got very excited. He grabbed the shoe box he had been carrying and opened it. It was full of Pokémon cards. He pulled this one out and gave it to me.
I had no idea I was a Pokemon character.

The first line pretty much says it all, “Todd is a photographer, but not just any photographer – he’s the best.”

Of course I still have the card.
