Our Content Creator network around the globe brings Visiting Media content production to our customers’ doorsteps. Get to know Kathryn Mueller, one of our valued members of the Visiting Media content creator network, and learn why our customers rave about her!

Kathryn started working with Visiting Media in July 2020. Since then, she has captured fantastic 360° panoramas for some of our great Los Angeles and California-based customers.

Tell us about yourself.
I’m originally from Madison, Wisconsin, I spent the 1990s in Chicago, where I went to film school, and I’ve been living in Los Angeles for the past 22 years. I moved here to work in the movie business as a camera assistant. After I had my kids, who are now 17 and 14, I quit making movies and switched to photography so I could have more control over my work schedule. I’ve been doing headshots for 10 years.

What got you working in 360°s?
It was July 2020 and since my company dealt with people, I was pretty much out of work. Someone I had previously worked with on a photo project was now working for Visiting Media and asked if I was interested in photographing empty hotel spaces, and I said OMG YES SO MUCH YES.

With headshot work ramping back up, the 360° shots have been a refreshing new perspective on my work, a pure technical challenge and a break.

What is your favorite shoot you have done with us?
It was a treat to do over 65 panoramas at the Millenium Biltmore in Downtown Los Angeles.  That place is iconic and I got a giant thrill out of seeing the detail that my Sony A7riii was able to capture in those old painted ceilings and ornate ballrooms. It was also lovely to do 3 days of panoramas at the beautiful Ojai Valley Inn and Spa.  Such a treat!

What energizes you at work?
I love to meet new people and chat.  I always look forward to getting to know my guide on location and it helps to pass the time by finding things we have in common to laugh about.

What is a hobby or interest of yours that people might not expect?
I’m a certified yoga teacher, and I teach four classes per week.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
Last summer my kids and I spent two weeks in the Pacific Northwest and we absolutely loved it!  It was so beautiful and so much more chill than L.A.  Of course the coffee situation was out of this world!  We will be back for sure.

What is your favorite beverage?
Espresso and all of the multitude of ways it can be served.
